The U.S. has updated its Visa Waiver Program (VWP) for 2025. Now, citizens from 40 countries can visit without a visa. This change makes travel for business and tourism much easier.

One major update is the addition of Romania, which strengthens ties between the two countries. However, no African nations, including Nigeria, Ghana, or South Africa, are on the list. Meanwhile, the United Kingdom is still eligible, but only under special conditions.

Under the VWP, travelers can stay in the U.S. for up to 90 days. However, they must get Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA) approval before flying. If they prefer, they can still apply for a visa instead.

Here is the full list of eligible countries:

  • Europe: Andorra, Austria, Belgium, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Monaco, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, San Marino, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland.
  • Asia & Middle East: Israel, Japan, Qatar, Singapore, South Korea.
  • Oceania & South America: Australia, Chile, New Zealand.

In summary, travelers from these countries can visit the U.S. without a visa, as long as they follow all rules. ESTA approval is required before the trip.
