Court Clears Naira Marley, Sam Larry in Mohbad’s Case
A Lagos Magistrate’s Court in Yaba has dismissed charges against Naira Marley, Sam Larry, Primeboy, and Opere Babatunde over Mohbad’s death.
The Department of Public Prosecution (DPP) advised the court to drop their names due to a lack of evidence. While they had previously assaulted Mohbad, the court ruled that it did not contribute to his death. Mohbad had also withdrawn his 2022 complaint against Naira Marley.
However, the court found nurse Feyisayo Ogedengbe and Ayobami Sadiq guilty of recklessness and negligence. They will now face trial under Section 251(e) of Lagos State’s Criminal Law.
Magistrate E. Kubenje ordered the release of Naira Marley, Sam Larry, Primeboy, and Babatunde if still in custody. They will remain on their previous bail conditions. The court adjourned the case to March 24, 2025.
