Amorim: Man Utd Must Improve Transfers to Succeed
Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim says smarter signings are key to fixing the club’s struggles. He believes past transfer mistakes have hurt the team’s success.
United’s Struggles Despite Big Spending
Since Amorim took over in November, United has failed to improve. They sit 15th in the Premier League, despite spending over £600 million ($760 million) under former boss Erik ten Hag.
With limited funds in January, Amorim signed only Patrick Dorgu. The club also announced 200 job cuts as part of a cost-saving plan.
Recruitment Is the Main Issue
Amorim admitted poor signings have played a big role in United’s decline. “Recruitment is crucial,” he said. “We need a stronger team, better performances, and to get back into European competitions.”
However, he knows words aren’t enough. “People are losing jobs because of our failures. We need to prove we can fix things,” he added.
Hojlund Needs More Support
United spent £100 million on strikers Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee, but they haven’t delivered. Hojlund has scored just two Premier League goals this season, with his last goal coming in December.
Amorim defended him, saying the team must create more chances. “Rasmus has potential, but he needs better service,” he said. “He’s young, and leading United’s attack is tough. If we improve, he will score more.”
The Road Ahead
Amorim’s priority is smarter signings and better team play. With the right changes, he hopes to bring United back to success.
