Los Angeles, March 2, 2025 – The 97th Academy Awards took place at the Dolby Theatre, honoring the year’s top films. Hosted by Conan O’Brien, the event featured several surprises, historic wins, and emotional speeches.
The night’s biggest success was Anora, which won five awards, including Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Actress. Notably, Sean Baker, the film’s director, made history by matching Walt Disney’s record for the most individual Oscars in one ceremony.
Meanwhile, Adrien Brody secured Best Actor for his role in The Brutalist. In the supporting categories, Kieran Culkin (A Real Pain) and Zoe Saldaña (Emilia Pérez) earned awards. Additionally, Paul Tazewell became the first Black man to win Best Costume Design for his work on Wicked.
