Ukraine has brought back the bodies of 909 soldiers killed in the war with Russia. The Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War (KSHPPV) led this operation. It marks one of the largest single repatriations during the conflict.
Soldiers Recovered from Key War Zones
Authorities recovered the remains from several frontline areas. These include Bakhmut, Kurakhove, Pokrovsk, Vuhledar, Zaporizhzhia, Kharkiv, and parts of Luhansk. Humanitarian groups and forensic teams helped identify and return the bodies safely.
Another Exchange Mirrors March Effort
This is the second major return in less than a month. On March 28, Ukraine received another 909 bodies. In that same exchange, Russia took back 43 of its fallen troops. These swaps reflect the ongoing efforts to show respect for soldiers on both sides.
Support for Grieving Families
Ukraine continues to focus on returning fallen heroes to their families. Each body goes through identification before the final handover. This process ensures that families receive their loved ones with the honor they deserve.
Respect and Responsibility in War
Officials stress the importance of these missions. They highlight Ukraine’s promise to care for its troops, even after death. The goal is to leave no soldier behind.
Ukraine also calls on global partners to support these efforts. Respecting the dead and helping families find closure remain a crucial part of the country’s war response.
