World Bank Set to Approve $2.2 Billion Loan for Nigeria in 2025
The World Bank is set to approve a $2.2 billion loan for Nigeria in 2025. The funds will support six key projects in economic growth, education, health, and digital development.
Breakdown of the Loan:
- Community Resilience and Economic Support – $500 million (March 17, 2025)
- Basic Education Improvement – $552 million (March 31, 2025)
- Nutrition and Health Boost – $800 million (March 31, 2025)
- Aid for Displaced Persons – $300 million (July 15, 2025)
- Health Security Development – $300 million (August 19, 2025)
- Digital Infrastructure Expansion – $500 million (September 15, 2025)
This funding follows a $1.5 billion loan Nigeria received in 2024 to help stabilize the economy. As a result, the country hopes to improve public services and create new opportunities.
Currently, Nigeria owes $17.1 billion to the World Bank’s International Development Association (IDA). However, with this new support, the government aims to boost development, enhance social programs, and expand digital access. If used wisely, these funds could drive long-term progress.
