Renowned R&B singer Angie Stone has died at 63 after a tragic car accident in Montgomery, Alabama. The crash happened on March 1, 2025, while she and her band traveled from Alabama to Atlanta. Their van overturned, and soon after, a truck collided with it, causing the fatal accident.

Born Angela Laverne Brown in Columbia, South Carolina, Stone began her music career in the late 1970s. At first, she gained fame with The Sequence, one of the first female hip-hop groups, thanks to their hit song Funk You Up. However, she later transitioned to R&B and became a solo star. In 1999, she released Black Diamond, which featured hits like No More Rain (In This Cloud) and Life Story. Two years later, she followed up with Mahogany Soul, which included the fan-favorite Wish I Didn’t Miss You.

Throughout her career, Stone collaborated with top artists such as D’Angelo, Alicia Keys, Missy Elliott, and Snoop Dogg. In addition to her music, she also pursued acting, appearing in films like The Hot Chick and Ride Along. Because of her immense talent, she received multiple Grammy nominations and several Soul Train Lady of Soul Awards.

Just days before her passing, she excitedly announced plans for a UK tour. As a result, fans had been looking forward to her return to the stage. Unfortunately, her sudden death has left the music world mourning. She leaves behind her children, Diamond and Michael.

Even though she is gone, Angie Stone’s music and influence will continue to inspire generations.
