Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara was prevented from entering the State House of Assembly on Wednesday morning. This incident stopped him from presenting the 2025 budget as planned.
Governor Fubara arrived at the Assembly early in the day. He aimed to meet a key requirement outlined in the Certified True Copy (CTC) of the Supreme Court judgment. The ruling directed him to present the 2025 budget to a properly constituted State Assembly.
However, some Assembly staff claimed they did not receive any prior notice about the governor’s visit. One staff member, speaking anonymously, said, “I am not aware that the Governor was scheduled to be at the Assembly today (Wednesday). If such information existed, the Rt. Hon. Speaker would have informed us. As of now, we have no knowledge of his visit.”
This incident has further fueled the ongoing political crisis in Rivers State. Rival factions continue to clash over control and authority. As the situation unfolds, stakeholders and observers remain watchful, eager to understand how it might impact governance and stability in the state.
