The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) have demanded that the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) return the goods it took from traders at the Ogbo Ogwu Drug Market in Onitsha, Anambra State.

According to IPOB’s Media and Publicity Secretary, Comrade Emma Powerful, NAFDAC officials raided the market at midnight. They blocked CCTV cameras, broke into shops, and seized goods. The officials claimed they were targeting fake drugs. However, IPOB questioned the method used. They also criticized the lack of transparency during the operation.

IPOB made it clear that they do not support selling fake drugs. However, they raised concerns about the raid. They pointed out that NAFDAC seized the goods when traders were not present. They also criticized the act of blocking the surveillance cameras. IPOB argued that NAFDAC failed to prove the confiscated products were counterfeit.

The group demanded answers from NAFDAC. First, they questioned the reason for conducting the raid at midnight. Next, they asked why the officials blocked CCTV cameras. They also wanted proof that the seized items were fake. Finally, they questioned why NAFDAC sealed the entire market, punishing both innocent and guilty traders.

IPOB called on NAFDAC to handle fake drug issues more transparently and professionally. Instead of surprise raids, they suggested setting up permanent offices inside drug markets for better monitoring and regulation.

In addition, IPOB urged NAFDAC to work with the Anambra State Government to move the drug market to the new Oba Drug Market. They emphasized that only licensed and certified dealers should operate at the new location.
